Your rings are pretty well seated within the first 500 miles. If you are past that, just drive it. Everything after 500 is just for show and the computer learning.

But like I said, 2 schools of thought...

Just like some people are firm about changing their engine oil at 3000 miles and wasting money and resources, there will also always be people who think babying an engine on break-in is good for it.

There is a section in the owners manual that talks about break in. Just follow that (its the baby it route, they say not over 60 mph for a bit and no trailer towing, etc). I changed my oil at 200 miles, 500 miles and then 1000 miles. Oil is cheap.

Seen lots of babied break in engines Snap rings actually. They never seated properly during break in, and as soon as they were driven hard, the top ring ends up snapping. I wouldn't just start it and pound it right away, but get it up to temp and get harder and harder on it till your doing WOT runs is a good way.

I usually do the first few (100km) fairly easy, than for the next few hundred increase the load until you get to WOT launches. I like to do a couple WOT runs with the car running up to half the posted limit under a mild or medium acceleration, than hit the gas to WOT...I do that a few times before going for a WOT launch. After that your good to go.

Break it in like your gonna drive it right....If you don't go to WOT during break in, than the first time you hit WOT, thats really still break in right. Its not just the engine that needs breaking in...remember that too.
