A 350-horse 454 RCSB on 4.10s should be every bit of a handful for a 403-CCSB on 3.42s. That's a truck with less weight, more gear, and 450-500 lb/ft of torque. If he can hook at all, he can really get the OP out of the hole.

 

I have to get more info outta him on his setup. But he is more reluctant to talk to me about anything with money on the line. Especially since i fleeced him on saturday night. We bet on the UFC main event. I won $40 off him. He picked Rashad to win (dummy).

 

Sorry to say it but that's a BAD sign, dude! My guess is that if he didn't have much in that motor he'd be happy to talk about it. I hope you don't have TOO much cash on the line.

 

If the 454 isn't a turd yeah he will get the OP out of the hole for sure unless something happens, traction issues, etc. If it turns out to be a pretty close race at the dragstrip, I would see if he would go from a roll on the interstate. He might not do it, but it doesn't hurt to ask lol. You might get some of your pride back by getting him from a roll if you win. He would be more inclined to do the roll race if it was a friendly race instead of money though. You will have to sort all that out.. Or you could just run him, see where you stand against him then start modding your truck lol, and have a go at him some other time.

Your truck with the 3.42 gears and the LS engine is more setup for a roll race tbh as it sits now. A Tune with a converter in your truck would help out quite a bit at the dragstrip, but the converters are kinda pricy.
Later on you could also get some spray on your truck and run him again..

Also, like stated already get a tune in that truck already. Not for the race, but in general it will make your truck wake up a little.

I wish I had a dollar for every slow 454 truck that I've come in contact with. Get a tune and a bottle of gas. Bet him a grand, and pay for the tune and the gas. That's how you win both ways.

I've got $100 as the bet. Best 2/3 on the strip. It doesn't matter to me if I lose. The truck is BONE STOCK. Once I wake this bitch up, it'll be another story.

 

As a heads up, my eventual plans will be LT's, TVS 2300, EFI Live (black bear), and probably a cam of some sort and possibly a converter. But I'm a working stiff family man, expendable income isn't flowing outta my butt.

 

^^ We get that! And yeah, the $110 won't kill ya, but it will make it that much sweeter when you go back some day with all those goodies on your truck and leave him. You can add one of THESE to your shopping list.
