Cam ???
whats up, i just got my comp cam 224/224 112 for my 08 silverado 5.3 vvt. I got the 3 bolt sprocket, springs, and push rods. I talked to comp today and they said all i have to do is have my tuner turn off the (DOD) displacement on demand before we start it up. Is this all i need to do?? I dont want this to turn into a disaster so please all you cam gurus help a brother out!

Your truck doesn't have VVT. To do the job right you will need LS7 lifters, 4 LS2 lifter trays, LS2 valley cover, 2 LS2 head bolt kit, and LS1-LS6 MLS head gaskets. Just ask Lucky77 or Lama1!!! And yes you have to turn the DOD off.

There are many guys running cams in the DOD motors with just the DOD turned off, everything is holding fine. I think there are a few who never turned it off, thats when issues will present themselves...

Yep there are some who have had no problems but there are some who have, like broken lifters and scored camshafts not to mention low oil pressure. It sucks to have to go the extra steps to do it right but I wasn't willing to take the chance. Like I said ask Lucky77 or Lama1 about their problems. Both of them had their DOD turned off when they installed their new cams with the DOD lifters.
