converter swap truck not moving

If I didn't check #6 during install could that mean something got tore up? Or does it just mean converter wasn't all the way in? Sorry for the newbie questions but Google ain't helping
Did put almost a quart in converter though.

Yes it would pull back to the flywheel without shimming. If the converter is all the way clicked in and you measure between the mounting pad of the verter to the flywheel mount pad, and it is more than 3/16, you will need to install hardened washers (the correct amount to get within that 3/32 to 3/16 range) between the converter and flywheel. I had to add .090" of shims to mine to get it in happy land. Too much clearance and yes it will pull back to the flywheel, too far out of the pump and destroy the pump. At that point, it is no fault of the seller or converter if it was not shimmed.

No ones pointing fingers at seller or converter. He offered to buy it back and I sold back knowing I have to fix what I tore up.
But now I know there's a little more to the install
Then there seems...

I didn't mean to sound like you were finger pointing. Def be sure to check that spacing, some mfgs converters need it more than others.

None of the manufactures do any favors for the novice,if they did they would give a measurment how far the converter sets in.A straight edge across the bell and a spec to the mounting lug.Then you know for sure if its into the stator and the pump gears.If its a tight pump bushing it can be a bitch to get the converter set all the way in.Sorry bro you tried to help a buddy and now you just want to hit the reset button.

Yank actually does give the spec for pad to bellhousing, I believe it is 1.125

all be dam.i made that suggestion to yank years ago when he chimmed in on a post just like this,i was ****'n all over the manufactures why they couldnt send a cardboard gauge along with there converters.

not likely it was cuz of what I said but nice to hear ,it doesnt take much to know if the converter is in all the way.

Okay new updates. After a buddy of mine that's a skilled mechanic tried to install converter in a diff nnbs truck same problem. And after taking measurements the factory converter sits 1/4'' in further than this one Wtf.....??
