sounds like you did a lot of work to find out you did nothing wrong.

I hate when someone sells **** parts and as good condition.

What would cause this converter to be 1/4'' off from factory converter? Are the new 60e different from nbs 60e?

No they arent. If it was clicked in all the way and it was still that far out, something wrong with the converter.

They are usually smaller & lighter than an original converter, for performance. They also need to be able to bolt up to a wide range of styles and/or thickness of flexplates, both stock style, or aftermarket SFI, oreven billet flexplates. Most of the time, shims will be needed with an aftermarket performance converter, if you are using a stock flexplate.

Just as an example, here's a couple pics of a stock 4L60E converter next to a Yank PT3200. You can see that it is a smaller diameter, and the body of the converter is also shorter(front to back).

Thank you for the picture explanation! I see what yall are saying. The seller bought converter back and installed in his truck WITH it shimmed and he had same symptoms. Has to be converter.

Too bad you had to go through all that, and the 'verter was bad. At least the seller bought it back.
