Default crappy speakers

mine is a LT with the standard single cd stereo system, ive never heard a worse system in a new car than this.Speakers rattle at 1/2 volume.I would expect more from this but after all its an obama truck.

Im sure many will agree,I am interested in hearing what folks have done to get any sort of performance out of this system.

IIRC this is the harness you need to retain onstar and switch to a new head unit.. Metra GMOS-LAN-01 and/or PAC OS-2 If you plan to keep the stocker, you need to get speakers that are rated at a lower wattage, rms rating, unless you hook a amp and all into the stock unt for higher rms-watt speakers...

No a aftermarket head unit will not need a amp unless you are looking for competition sound.. It is higher wattage and rms then a stock unit is.. I can suggest a bunch, but you need to know what kind of money you are looking to put out for it..

Most aftermarket HU's are 55x4 and 22-25 watts rms.. A stock HU is ruffly 20 watts.. I have 4 infinity kappas in my truck,(2 6.25's and 2 4x6 plates) they sound great esp for the money IMO, that is on aftermarket pioneer HU, I have a single 12'' kicker sup, powered with a 800watt pioneer amp. I am very happy with the over all sound. Is it the best of course not, does it sound pretty good, yes it does... Check into infinity, kicker, memphis, alpine, polk for decent to low costing stuff that still sounds really good.. Boston, JL, Hertz, focal,MB quartz, Morel, Oz Audio & Rainbow are higher end things..
What kinda truck are these going in??
