Default Crate Motor

Hi folks,
I haven't posted here in a long time, still lurk though.

I still have my 2010 6.2 and plan on keeping it.

Some may recall I had GM rebuild the engine under warranty a few years ago due to an engine knock.
It was quiet for a while but now sounds like a diesel on cold start up. Very loud.

I don't want to go the rebuild route again and am considering a crate motor vs a salvage yard engine.

Considerations for a crate motor would be..
Daily driver power, power under the curve, not high rpm race motor.
Compatibility with existing computer and accessories.
Ease of installation/swap.

The 480, 515, 525 hp kits look doable.

Any input appreciated.

A mild 408-416 would do wonders. You could even look for a very low mileage 427

Are you looking at 6.2 crate or going larger like 427. A crate motor is hard to beat price and warranty wise. It's hard to build a motor for less than the cost of a crate and the crate has a warranty. Theres some nice aftermarket crates and the cost and sizes available now days they skies the limit.

I was thinking of a new Gm engine, I can buy from a local dealer. No freight in.
Local warranty.
Doesn't make sense for me to get anything else shipped to where I live.

One of these

LS 376/480 Crate Engine - Race Engine | Chevrolet

LS 376/525 Crate Engine - Race Engine | Chevrolet

LS7 Crate Engine - Race Engine | Chevrolet

depending on compatibility and cost

480 uses hot cam
525 uses ASA cam
LS7 just flat sweet

All 3 are a direct drop in just tune em as necessary with your truck intake and headers you currently have.
