Debating on what to do with my 4WD truck...
I am stuck on what to do with my truck...right now it's lifted 7" with 35" tires, and I'm debating on lowering it instead.
I'm currently gathering parts for the DoD Delete and a cam swap. Eventually I'm going turbo, no matter what.
If I keep it lifted I'll regear to 4.56's and I also planned on prerunner fiberglass (wheel well rust, and always loved the look anyway).
BUT.... if I lower it I'll stick with the 3.73's I've got now and fix the rust the truck has on the wheel wells. But I just kind of like the idea of a turbo truck being lowered instead of lifted. But being 4WD I'm limited by my CV angles. I think I can do a 5/8 drop if I decide to do it (2" spindles and 3" struts)
Something like this would be sick:

Honestly I didn't see any cut frame, the lift has been on the truck since it was brand new in '07 (dealership installed lift) and I'm the second owner of it. I can get a better view of it soon but last time I was under there I didn't see anything like what we had to do to install the Zone lift in my buddy's '06.

Rancho is usually pretty good about not having to cut frame.... Dont think ive ever seen a 99-07(classic) that didnt have to cut the front diff/skid plate mount and some had you cutting other parts and welding in a gusset to resupport it...

Nothing wrong with lowering a 4WD.
I had my AWD SS pretty low, about 4/5, and rode for a long time without issues.
Im not sure you can go as low as a 5/8 but for sure a 4/6 is possible.
My favorite part about a lowered 4WD, is when id have to pull out lifted 2WD trucks out the sand.

Part of the reason I'm considering it is because my truck is honestly a pavement princess, except for winter. Winter is the only reason I have a 4WD truck (Minnesota and all) but honestly even if it was lowered it'd just be like driving a Subaru!
