Denali weight class..1500 or 2500?

Get the glove-box RPO code for the rear axle, most reliable way to know. My 1500 Silverado has the 14 bolt rear because I got it with the NHT Max Tow package. But it's still a 1500.

The 1500 Denali comes with 2 different axles, if it is AWD its the 8.6" 10 bolt, if 2WD its the 9.5" 14 bolt.

I was thinking about it and the 10-bolt will be fine up to pretty big power behind an AWD... At a 400 dyno only 240 is going back to it. I doubt mine even has close to 400 at the wheels...

Didn't know the AWDs had a 10 bolt...sucks for them, but I'm sure with all the drivetrain loss they don't get punished. Thanks for clarifying that it's a 1500.

Its not only the drivetrain loss. Only 60% goes to the rear versus the full 100%. This means the AWD gets only 60% of the beating the 2WD trucks get in the rear. Thus the ability to cut corners.

Plus there is more drivetrain loss with the 14-bolt; why put less power to the ground if you don't need the extra strength?

Took a couple of times reading this. But I get it now. Why let the 14-bolt suck up the power, if you don't need a stronger axle. Good point!
