No way. I have to dyno the first one then make up my mind to buy another or not
Hey seriously though Shane B, if you go with the Diablo you can read check engine codes also if needed. I did after installing LT's my CES light always came on due to the 02 sensors, but you would still have to get a custom tune either by a sponsor or someone frome Diablo to disable 02's. Just giving that scenarion as an example.

Well as a tuner you know timing and fuel control is tuning, period. EFI live will offer a laundry list of other options including far better tweaking of the fuel and timing, in the right hands yielding better results. However, had you used the handheld past the "default flash" and attempted to tune, power could have/should have been made.

Im just curious everybody, what exactly can you do with the Diablo on the LS motors? On my magnum I can turn the MDS system completly off, increase shift firmness, raise rev limiter, remove speed governor, since i have a 180 tstat Im able to adjust high and low speed fan settings to complement the tstat. Also able to adjust a/f ratio settings and adjust timing. And of course I can take it to a tuner and have custom tune put on it.Im probably missing some things also.Im just curious what adjustments can be made for the GM engines. Is there no adjustments really for the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2.Just curious why most people on here are against the canned tuners. If the handhelds dont really adjust anything than I get it.

Diablo can do everything you listed for LS trucks, except im not sure there is trans control for nnbs trucks yet or not..
Like you have noticed most on here dont like handhelds and thats because they are all spoiled with efi live and hp tuners, like a handheld they can adjust timing and a/f ratio but do it way more refined with tables, also extra tables of like a/c on off temps, throttle cracker cfm, TC lockup %'s and all sorts of other crazy stuff that you would have to pay for a custom tune for over and over again with a handheld when you can just own the whole OS and do it yourself with GM stuff..
Ive personally done what your talking about with my diablo and datalogged and gone past just the "canned tune" and yea there is a def increase in power there. But now i would need a custom tune to get anymore out of it, so that leaves me with buy a custom diablo tune, or a mail order/efi live hp tuners software and do it myself... Im sure diablo will tell you they can do everything that efi and Hp software can, but i would suggest searching around and making up your own mind when it comes to that.
Bottom line is i bought mine used, imo did its job great and was worth the money(used price) and now its time to move on. All these guys go around dissing handhelds and say there mail order tunes are awsome, which im sure they are good. But with a simple mail order tune you have no idea whats going on and at least my big paperweight handheld gives me an idea of whats going on with datalogging and read dtc's etc..

EFI live is the way.. If there were such a program for every make and model of vehicle then handhelds wouldnt be available..
Imagine the possibilities if a person could get a laptop tuning program for say... A cummins powered ram.. endless power, endless smoke (tire and black) but they arent available for that..
We have the availability of the programs.. So why not use it.. If you are into doing the adjustments yourself then buy EFI live.. Expensive but then again, you can tune all your buddies trucks and make the money back.. I tried a hypertech before i had mine tuned and i didnt feel a thing.. but then i had it tuned and WHAMMO instant power.. at least as much as you can have from a 4.8..
Do what you wish.. Sounds like you have your mind made up anyway.. But dont say we didnt tell you so when you decide that you want to do more than the diablo will allow..
By the way.. Welcome to the board.. Alot of pissing matches on here, but then again, also ALOT of helpful information...

Check out Black Bear Performance. He does data logging tunes. He'll send you a data logging cable and you record about 30 minutes of driving, send it back and he'll get you a near perfect tune. Thats as close to a dyno tune as your gonna get. You WILL notice a power difference.
