Ok, after all day doing research here, other forums and my special GM sites, I finally found all the answers I need.

To do a DOD delete without an aftermarket cam the Thunder racing kit will work just fine, plus a custom tune to turn off the DOD codes and DOD activation.

To install an aftermarket cam, you will need the cam of your choice, the lifters that are recommended for it (or the LS7 lifters included in the TR kit)and the LS2/LS7 Valley cover to reduce the PCV and oil flow to the lifters that will increase the chance of oil being ingested in your motor. Also lifter trays from a LS2/LS7 to fit the non DOD lifters. Also pushrods are highly recommended for aftermarket cams but is not needed on stock cam applications.

The write up by MRgoodwrench3 did a great write up for an entire motor build which I would love in my truck but not needed for just a cam swap on a DOD motor!!

Hopes this helps everyone...

I will try tomorrow to provide all GM Part numbers to do the swap effectively

All you need to delete DOD is the thunder racing kit and the tune. You are making this entirely too complicated.

The whole point of deleting the DOD is because the lifters will fail at high rpm even though I haven't seen proof that this happened to someone , what has been proven that breaks is the POS timing chain tensioner on gen IV engines (tootall did a thread on that), why not replace that with the wedge ls2 style if you are doing the cam install ? With that there are more parts needed, front oil seal, pick up tube O ring, and the thunder racing kit don't include new head and water pump gaskets, also a 3 bolt cam sprocket.

My point is ,if you are deleting DOD because it might fail and leaving other things that fail in there ,then why go to all the trouble of deleting DOD mechanically if it can just be deleted by the tune.

To delete DOD... all you need is a tune and the TR kit. No one said anything about a cam.

That's correct ,but OP said in post 1 he is going to install a cam, I just gave him some info I found in here when I did my install about replacing the timing chain tensioner.

Also, DOD lifters are failing from more than just high RPM. They're junk that are failing on stock 10k mile motors. I'm doing my cam swap and I won't be changing the tensioner. If there are 800 hp motors running with the same tensioner, I'll wait til it fails.
