Default DOD question

So I got in a guy at works 07 Silverado and it didn't have the scroll keys/functions for display. I don't know what it's called for sure but it's where I can check instant economy average and all that good stuff. I bring this up because his glove box says he has the same engine as me but his doesn't show 4 to 8 cylinder mode. So does his not have DOD or did all the 900 trucks have the DOD?

GM calls those keys DIC (driver information center),most trucks are already prewired for that,my truck didn't came with that from factory and I bought online. You can have DOD even if you don't have the DIC,the best way to check to see if you have DOD is to check the valley cover ,if It's flat then it don't have DOD and the DOD cover has the bumps.

Should still have the DOD, just doesnt have the driver info diplay switch. He can add the switch for a hundred bucks with kit part number 19159438.

To see instant mpg he would need the DIC and the 6 gauge cluster.
To see when it switches from 8 to 4, he would need the above and a 5.3 with DOD.

Yep! $73 before the outrageous shipping charge for a piece of plastic.

Just pop off the panel and put this one on in its place. Just ordered mine five minutes ago.

I know when I bought mine, there was a "kit" that had the panel and switch together, but you could buy the switch and panel separately and it saved some cash. I didn't click your link, but if it is the "kit", look a little harder and try to find the pieces separately.

Without the panel, I can't install the switch. I don't have a hole in my stock panel.
