Default dual battery

Just wondering if anybody knows what is necessary to add another battery to my vmax. I figure there is plenty of room between the fuse box and the left headlight. I will be running a winch and lights and would like to keep it separate from the cranking battery. So I guess some sort of isolator will be needed. Any help and part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

A battery box and cables as Far as I can tell. You should upgrade the alternator though.
Are you talking like a winch on the front of the truck or a heavy duty winch in the back?

What warn are you running? I personally would not buy an electric after using a hydraulic unit. I can tell you the Mile marker 12,000 hyd will out pull any electric on the market in that size, and probably out pull the 15,000 lb units as well. If you are running the 145 amp alt like most GM trucks you won't drain dual batteries before you burn up your winch motor.

I am going to run a warn m12000. So you are saying I do not need an isolator or a different alternator. Sweet!

Long pulls w/ the 12,000 would tax a single. I'd just run dual batteries and leave the truck running with the lights on (this triggers the unit to charge at 14+ volts before the pull starts). Two good batteries will work fine. IMO optima's are very over rated. too much $$$ for little if any gain, most people say optima's are good batteries because they go from a 1/2 worn out unit to a new unit, that's like comparing a 4 year old headlight against a new silverstar or something along those lines.

BTW. Wesley Chapel here.
