I don't think ARP makes them for the recessed plate. I have to use the new style with VVT.

You didn't have this problem with the old style plate with normal bolts which is what the ARP bolts are made for.

I must have been lucky because I didn't have this problem at all, mine came out easily.

I use stock hex head bolts on that exact plate...no issues

You are using the plate with the recessed holes? I would have switched plate if I were going to use normal bolts.
