Jason had the same problem on his LS7. Mine came off just fine by hand. No impact, no stripping.

 

Torx sucks especially those dirty bastards they sometime use on the torque converters.

This is what I use. Got one way back in my dirt bike days. Works like a champ.

 

It seemed to me that turning really fast "broke" the grip on the loc tite. A slow turning(attempting not to strip) would actually just begin stressing the bolt and twist the metal.

Last time i encountered those, we just used a grinder and ground the heads off far enough that the plate fell off.

Heck of alot funner than stripping the heads or breaking the bit.
The engine was trashed anyway so we had fun.
Got a ton of spare metric bolts now!

 

I always use my small butane torch on the bolts and havent had a problem since the first one I did that gave me a headache.

 

Dang, I should have made this thread prior to doing all that work. Would have saved me some grief. Heating is a good idea.




Yea. Only used for fire calls though. You'd think they'd have figured out text messages by now....
