Question gear swap

im doing a gear swap soon

this is what i'm getting tomorrow or already got.

got:
motive gears 4:30
the basic motive gear install kit.
getting:
ratech complete kit for 8.5" 10 bolt
TA main cap studs
TA rear end cover
ARP 12 point cover bolts
GM limited slip additive
royal purple gear oil

what else do i need? my truck has 270xx miles so i figured do the bearings on the POO G80 while im there.
how many gear oils do i need?
how many additives do i need?
how many miles do i run the gears before i change the oil?
how often to do i change the oil?

i think thats all the questions.

your list sounds good, but dont put in royal purple, use a conventional oil. you will need three quarts and have a half quart left over. if you want to use the additive you will need (1) put it in first then your oil. do not over fill it! break your gears in for 500 miles easy driving and plenty of heat cycles.

for the install kit make sure it's for an 8.6 so that you have the right size bearings and shims.

how long of a heat cycle per run? do i have to let it cool before i drive it again?
why not royal purple?
do i change the oil again after 500 miles?
when i swap in a tru-trac im going to look into swapping in a stronger axle and redo everything again. if not that then ill swap in a built 14 bolt.

yeah thats what i was thinking. thunderracing.com is where i got my list but it didnt have a choice for a 8.6. i also didnt see a rear end cover in 8.6. with the main cap studs does it matter between the 8.5 or 8.6?

when you first pick it up drive it about 30 minutes stop and let it cool, then drive another thirty minutes, stop let cool. do this about 6 times, you dont have to do it the same day of course. change the oil at 500 miles, give her hell! but if your gonna do a tru-trac you might as well do it all why your in there, from what i have seen the my diff runs cooler and smoother with conventional oil over synthetic, and the royal purple and mobil 1 thins out quite a bit.

do yall think the 4:30s are too low for my CC with a 3200 stall and a 32" tire? ill also be running a 28" slick MIGHT try to get a 30" slick on a 15" rim if itll work on my truck. im staying full weight. also if i dont like it ill swap up to a 3400-3600 stall with 3:90-4:10s. keep in mind ill be running a 221/224 111LSA and a 125-150 shot
