i was stupid and now need a new front bumper for my truck. my 08 doesnt have the cutout which i really like. i notice the 1500 have a small cutout but the HD's have a bigger one. are the bumpers the same mount wise? i thought the difference between the two front ends was the bumper cap which is taller on the 2500/3500.. also has anyone color matched a stealth gray metallic GMC front end? i know black looks good but cant picture what mine would look like

 

Carbongmc did the HD bumper swap. I think all he did was the bumper swap. Bumper brackets and stuff match up fine. I could be wrong though

I think i readdid in another forum that if you install and hd bumper in a regular 1500 you have to weld something but i might be wrong..

 

The brackets that go on the frame horns need to be modified (i.e., cut) to fit the HD bumper on the chevrolets, so I'm sure the GMCs would be the same. I've yet to come across a really well put together pictorial how-to on the modifications involved, but the consensus seems to be that once you have the bumper and frame horn brackets in front of you, it's pretty clear what needs to be done.

 

Mine is a 2008 and bought a bumper off a 2010 with the opening in the middle had it powdercoated and now i want the 2012 hd bumber with the hood and the grill basically the hd front. lol

 

I just put a 2011 bumper, grille ans valance on my 2007, but I swapped half ton parts for half ton parts.

 

i'm about to do a 2011 denali hd bumper,grill,bumper cap I'll have in about 2 weeks or so I'll try to take lots of detailed pictures.. by the way this is on my 09 sierra

 

the 1500 & 2500hd bumpers are the same, the top bumper caps are different, the hd caps are taller, for those looking to do the hd grille swap, not so easy, you have to use the hd bumper cap and lower the bumper about 1.5 inches.
