GMT900 Brake Upgrades
#31
I'm also looking for info to run the Z06 setup on a friends 2009 Avalanche.
are brackets available?
I found info on most items needed, but nothing more on brackets or if they work on the later models.

thanks in advance

Yes I believe hawk makes a single piece pad, I know for sure there is a company that makes them just can't recall for sure off the top of my head.

If the padlets are good enough for as hot a car as the z they're fine for the truck. The padlets supposedly allow more pressure to be exerted on the rotor. They're also slot so they can't turn on you.
You are correct. With a smaller surface area at a given pressure the psi wil be higher.

With the big rotors on our trucks, I would suggest upgrading the pads first. I answered on my phone the first time, not realizing that you had a 6.2, but my brakes seem to work pretty well and my wheel/tire combo isn't exactly featherweight either. If I were to change it up, I would start with a pad swap, unless you want to throw the coin at a nonfactory setup. I really don't think we have a lot of options from the factory right now. I would love to stuff CTS-V calipers on there, but that won't likely be happening with my 17s and who knows what that would take to engineer.
What pads would you recommend? I was looking around, and they all seem to be knockoffs at the auto stores. Are these an upgrade? Or do I have to go expensive? If so, where to buy?
