i love mt GMT900 best ride out off all the trucks ive owned. my 02 seats are the worst imo. cant drive more than 2 hrs before my back starts to get stiff. the 2011 on the other hand is a night and day diffrence. i'll get tired before i get sore in the new seats.

I like the 900's, but prefer my 05. I drove a 2010 Z71 while my 05 was in the body shop. It had less rattles than my truck, but my seats were more comfy(buckets). I also like that my truck has AC vents in the console for the back seat, since my 2 year old is back there. I also like that my truck rides stiffer than the one I drove, it was too spongey for me.

I hadn't heard all of these complaints about the 900 trucks before! This was a good read, glad I searched about the Made in Mexico stuff...

Question for everyone: I'm looking at upgrading to a 4x4 crew and I've got my eye on 2:

GMT800 2006 GMC Z71 SLT 68k miles $18k
OR
GMT900 2009 Silverado Z71 LT 81K miles $21,5

I want to keep this truck long term so things like squeaks & rattles are a big deal!! What do ya think in terms of long term quality??

They've both got enough miles that anything that will rattle probably already does. Drive them back to back.
Mine is built in Mexico because that's all we get down here in AZ, and I've really got no quality issues so far (just shy of 20k).

SAme as mine. Live in Texas, no problems so far except a vibrating tranny dipstick, which was fixed in 1 min.

Ive put about a thousand miles on my new-to-me truck and Ive got no complaints other than the goofy *** sunroof design but thats the same design that GM used on all its sunroof equipped vehicles for the last decade.

The ride is much better than the other trucks Ive had too. The only squeek I get is from the rear seat one really rough roads but Ill be looking into exactly what is causing it. I believe its the bad side of the seat that slides when you lift the bottom of it up. Some teflon pads should cure it.

My 2011 blows. The brakes suck, too much wind noise, my USB port makes all my music have a crackling noise. If I could return it I would but now I'm stuck with it. Oh well

My 2011 is quiet, no squeaks, no rattles. I only charge my phone with the usb not interface for tunes, but I have used it to play files from a flash drive with no issues whatsoever. It sounds like you need to spend some quality time hitching at your dealer

Ditto all that - especially that you (Taubr Unit) need a come-to-Jesus meeting with your dealer. I'm happy with my brakes, even towing, and am very satisfied using my iPod all the time through the USB port in the console. It's been 13 months and 11,300 miles and I still love damn near everything about this truck.
