Not being smart by any means, but they are the same as the same corresponding year 4WD. That’s not to say that you have to buy by specific year model, but year model types. The front is just the typical 8.25” differential, in which the center section is the same between the AWD/4WD vehicles. The rear, is there again just typical to the other ½ ton trucks the Denali is based off of.

Ok, I get that. But when I look at the prices for the 4WD gears on GM online, the list price is like $600+ for the fronts and $400 for the rear, and that's just the ring and pinion sets. I was hoping that someone on here could say what gears from motive, yukon etc. works in the GMT 900 AWD/4WD and what bearings are needed. My main concern is whether the pinion shaft diameter (on either the front or rear) is bigger, or is it just that the O/D of the pinion bearing is bigger? In other words, can the GMT 900 bearings fit on the older style gears, so that the older gears can work in the new trucks? I guess I just need to bite the bullet and give one of the gear companies a call. I want to make sure I order the right ones, because I would have to ship them overseas and pay import tax, so its not even practical to return them if they are wrong. When I find out, I will post the part #s, because there still seems to be a bit of confusion about whether the pinion bearings, diff bearings etc. are a different size.
Glad I didn't go 3.73. Stock is 3.23 on my truck.
Like I said, I was worried about my pinion bearing seat height at first, but it looked totally fine.
Go to the junkyard and grab some gears.

Also..99+ center carriers on pickups have the bigger bearings (8.6 style).
I assume its 03 vans (lsx based engines, not spyder injection gen II) that have the bigger carrier bearings (8.6 style)
I pulled my gears from an "8.5" 1990 1500 2wd.
I do know the 09+ gmt900 (not the 07 or 08) have different pinion bearings on the inner (pinion pressed) and Im pretty sure the outer is different.
All of the pinion shafts are 1.626 or whatever. I don't know where that is measured but I know the gears will work in either application.
As far as the front differential..I'd almost bet if its 8.2 or whatever the 4wd trucks are you should be fine. Just make sure to use the specific pinion bearings for your applications. (99-08) or (09-11)..

Just wanted to update. I had my old bearing pressed off my stock pinion (the rear cage part of the pinion was kinda bent after this). Measured my shim it was 36 thousandths. Measured my 1990 truck pinion shim I got from the junkyard and it was 35 thousandths (figured they were set up similar in the first place..but wanted to see). Put my stock 36 thousandths shim on the junkyard 1990 4.10 pinion, and had nothing to lose so I pressed on my old bearing. I took note of where the one carrier shim on left side and right side when I pulled it apart. Impacted everything together because I don't care (was pissed my truck sat for a week) and all is good!
Glad I didn't go 3.73. Stock is 3.23 on my truck.

Perhaps I should have been more clear.
