Default Gonzo beat me!

Great day today at Woodburn Dragstrip, and I finally got to meet Gonzo_6.0 after yakking on this forum for most of the last year. We managed to line up for one run and he nailed a 14.3 @ 96 to my 14.9 @92. Pretty much what you'd expect for his tune, headers and intake vs. my tune only. Plus I had my son along for the ride.

We looked like twins when we staged; his CCSB and my ECSB, but both silver 6.2/6L80/3.73s.

I'm really happy with this pickup. With nothing more than a Black Bear tune to help the stock motor; and oversize tires, 5,950 lb with passenger, and a 2.25 inch lift slowing me down; to run a 14.9 and then get 17.7 mpg on the highway going home in total luxury ... is just out-freakin'-standing.

Hey Gonzo
- did you get a chance to weigh yours on the way home? I'm curious.

Bro,that was a thrill! its been since 1982 since I seen a track. It was my pleasure to meet you and your son today.I left my house 6:30am this am in the rain for the 3hr drive over the mountian(i live at 3700ft) Pulling into the track the fuel mileage read 17.9,with only two runs at the track and heading home east bound and down, she dropped to 16.2 MPG over all. To answer your question no sir i didnt weigh the truck.I will try this week and report back.

Phil I had with me my lap top and EFI live ,would love to have tried the PG tune over the waite for me performance tune that I was running, with the busy track we didnt get to try many things,I wanted to launch in 2x4,I didnt want to blow it so launched in AUTO and shifted out, didnt vibrate on the top end so the 4x4 kicked out when the switch was hit at about the 100ft mark

Hey how did the first video come out? the one your son took as your passenger and im pulling ahead? lol ,post up what you have.you have my email It was sent in a recent PM,again nice to have met up ,lets do it again when track reopens,Gonz

Nice runs. Amazing what these motors will do with just a tune and few supporting mods huh

The video looked good on his iphone, and as soon as I get it from him I'll post it up (assuming I can figure out how ....). When I dropped him back in Corvallis he mentioned having a ton of homework to finish up so I'm not surprised he hasn't sent anything yet - he's at LBCC.

Unfortunately he also got video of me forgetting to switch to 4WD on my first run, launching in 2WD with the TC kicking in and then me saying "THAT was a mistake!" Dang kid.

Yeah, it was fun and a pleasure to meet you as well!

I'm already looking forward to an Airaid Jr. and maybe headers for next year.

We were at Woodburn Dragstrip in Oregon. The track is at 154 feet actual elevation, but it was so cool and humid yesterday morning that our D/A worked out to be 379 feet BELOW sea level. Some of the racers were griping that it was too humid and hard to tune for - it was wet and foggy but I don't believe our trucks thought it was a problem.

That's awesome guys! Gonzo is good people I've been to Woodburn on their BIG truck day a few years ago, never seen a drag strip with the staging lanes COMPLETELY filed with semi trucks there to RACE!!! It was a good time.

They even had to put one of the logging trucks with crane to work to lift another truck that crashed and flipped upside down off the track!!

Now, THAT would be something to see (not the crash, the semi's)!
