Default Hard starting

Ive got A 08 silverado rcsb 5.3. It's all of a sudden havering a hard time starting. It will spin over for 3-5 seconds befor it bearly kicks to life. After its started it runs like a champ and it has no check engine light on at all. 89,822 miles on the truck. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Also it is a flex fuel engine but I only run high octane gas in the truck

Its possible that you have a fuel pump module that has a bad check valve and is bleeding the fuel pressure back to the tank when you shut it off. So everytime you restart it, it has to prime the system again. Does it puff black smoke when it starts? If it does, you might have a leaky fuel injector. Just a few things that come to mind.

No black smoke. Can I order this check valve or am I going to have to buy a new fuel pump?

You have to buy the whole module. If you do replace it, use one from a dealer or get the delphi replacement. Delphi is what gm uses. Get a fuel pressure guage and check it when you shut it off and see if the pressure drops.
