Default Header and Programmer question 09 5.3L rcsb

Hey all,

I found several posts stating the 09 exhaust system is different I figured out Mine has the extra cat. Has anyone had problems installing LT headers? I plan on buying headers with a new cats and i was wandering if the install is much harder.

Also, I saw these dynatech intermediate headers 850 with high flow cats, for 650. Is there that much difference between the intermediate and the Long tube?
As far as LT goes i can't find any brands that offer headers for the 2009 and a Y-pipe. Any ideas?

Also,

Has anyone found a programmer that will work with the 2009's. I've been looking at superchips, hypertech, and edge, but they only offer one's for 2500HD. Please, post part number if you've found one.

Thanks!

I think the intermediate headers are midlenght headers and they flow close to the longtube headers.A buddy of mine just installed longtubes in his 09 and didn't have any problems. He got pacesetter ceramic longtube headers. As far as programmer some hp tuners offer mail-order tunes which are better than programmers.

P/N 115-141300A is the long tube headers...the other p/n's are for the catted or non-catted intermediate pipe or y-pipe depending on if you have the 4.8,5.3,6.0 or if you have a 6.2...as far as tuners go Blackbear no handheld will ever touch what a mailorder or custom tune can do.

The headers and y-pipe for the classic body style will fit the nnbs trucks with a minor modification of the tailpipe. You have to cut about 4-6" off from behind the flange. Did it too mine and the install was pretty easy. As far as tuning, don't waste your time or money for a programmer. GO WHEATLEY!!!!!!!!!!

Where do you live? An in person tune is really the way to go. charlie can pull so much more out of the motor and really customize your tune. charlie wheatley is out of houston
