Shorties are ALMOST as good as LTs...it's common for people to say they're not worth anything but that's not true at all. I've seen several people change to LTs from shorties and not gain ANY peak power. The reason many people don't see much gain is they bolt them strait into the stock exhaust system and most people that install LTs go for full exhaust. I personally have ARHs dual 3" into a Flowmaster dual 3" to single 4" Y with a Hooker Maxflow and it's DEEP and has no rasp at all. It's actually quieter than the drop in Flowmaster with the stock cats at idle and part throttle. She screams like a top fuel at WOT though! HAHA

Peak power isn't where your gain will be anyway. At least not the gains that matter.

People that know what they are talking about know that power gained under the curve is where LTs matter.

Not to mention the gain in TQ.

All things considered equal (cam, heads, bore, ect) the engine with the better intake/exhaust will perform better.

Also, of course most people that install shorties do so into the stock exhaust system. It's easy. The reason why people that install LT's go with a custom exhaust is because well you have to. durrp lol

That's not saying all LTs are better than all Shorties. Gaining power with exhaust is all about scavenging. Not so much all out flow.
