Sure, it would be nice to have here and there but, for the extra money that the 4x4 costs its not worth it to me. The 2-3 times it snows here ill just leave it parked if I have too. If you dont intend to offroad or get snow I dont see any reason for it. And if you need 4wd in the rain you need to slow down and/or hang up the keys. IMO

I bought a 2WD and regretted the first time I went to the Sand Dunes...
I live in SouthWest AZ and my next truck is going to be a 4X4 because 4WD is the only way to go!!!...

2wd trucks are useless. They get stuck in wet grass much less when the tide is low and you have to back further down the boat ramp where its covered in algae. Back when I had my Dmax I pulled a 2wd dually and 42' cigarette boat out because of that very situation. 4wd is one of those things where you don't need it til you need it.
Especially when your truck is packing any decent power how do you merge into rush hour traffic. I just hit the 4hi button and romp on it and I'm uo to speed no problem. Same when its raining, auto 4wd is very nice.
Not to mention 4wds hold their resale value much better. The people who complain about 4wd parts wearing out are usually the ones parroting info off the internet. My Z71 has almost 200k on it with all original parts. It does need new steering components but a 2wd with that mileage would need the same. The pump rub problem was fixed with a new pump clip in 07 so that's not an issue anymore.
I use 4wd all the time for stupid stuff like backing up a trailer in the grass and not tearing the grass up. Or when I was backing a loaded down utility trailer into a garage that had a steep incline. I had to put a couple of 4x4 blocks behind my rear wheel to get up on to lift the tongue of the trailer high enough up for the jack to clear the drip edge of the garage. If my truck was 2wd it would've just spit the block out from under the tire but putting it in 4wd the front tires pushed me right up onto the block no problem.
It's stuff like that, that makes me never want to own a 2wd.

I went with a 4x4. I probably could have got by with a 4x2 and would have got a bit better mpg and spent a few less $. I off road occasionally and we get snow here. When I have to deal with either, I drive my Jeep Wrangler. Why did I get a 4x4? I always do and have never regretted it. The ability to turn a **** and know that I'm in a very capeable vehicle is worth it to me.
