i mean is there a big of a difference in terms of horsepower.. highflowcats vs none .. i was told by a friend of mine that his O2 sensors got destroyed because of the heat.. but i dont think so to be honest..

 

Yes its loud but sounds good up top if u choose no cats just get u a longer magnaflow i run the 14" but they have longer i.e. 18" 22" etc. or if thats 2 quiet get the 14" and throw a bullet muffler in front to cut some of the rasp... Personally i love the smell of raw fuel reminds me of old school just my 0.02

 

IIRC there is a table in the tune to turn off or raise the temp in which the comp tells to dump more fuel to cool the cats down just tune that out and u should be good but i may have some wrong information never had a problem with mine though

 

I vote NO CATS, that's what I am doing!

I have my 22" Magnaflow already installed in anticipation of having my Pacesetter Long Tubes and Off Road Y-Pipe installed any day now....just waiting for the y-pipe to come in.

 

Pacesetter long tubes, cat-less y, and borla 3" in and 2x 2.5" outlets custom bend infront of the rear passenger tire. QTP electric cut off

love my set up, been this way for over a year. Borla sounds great, and when i wanna disturb the peace, flip the switch and im free flowing.

 

Ive had cats and no cats....couldnt really tell a difference to be honest, but ive always had big mufflers.

 

Rasp will be one thing that you will get without cats, since im running open Y pipe its very raspy at certain RPMs. Over all the truck sounds more like a car and gets a ton of compliments and definatly turns heads when I mash the loud pedal.

 

Anybody got any thoughts on performance difference between the two?

 

+1 and please add Fuel Mileage difference.

I'm wondering if fuel mileage is any better without cats since you can dial back the fuel to cool them off from overheating.

I'm one of those goofy people that would rather run cats for lower emissions if it's only 3-10hp.
It's only a matter of time before the remaining states start doing sniffer checks, and I'd rather spend that cash once - especially if there's not much performance/Mileage difference. (I mean think about it... so you gain 10hp at 6000 RPM - so what. You don't drive it there all day long)

When I spoke to Magnaflow a while back, they offered High Flow Cats, but I was told to get a specific core - they handle performance converters that are well above and beyond a "Stock Performance" converter that will not affect flow, but yet keep folks responsable on emissions.
