Default How do I remove the Day time running lamp??

I finally plugged in my HID's but i wanna remove the DRL's because when i remote start my truck the headlights turn on and off untill you get in and put the key forward. (aftermarket viper alarm)

Under the hood fuse box, there are 2 locations where DRL is @. i think #31 and #33. I removed one, then the other but the damn lights still turn on, on their own! Help?? anyone? which one am i missing?

with the key....
i removed both fuses from the under hood fuse box and started it up with the key. this morning i turned it on with the remote start and the lights flick on and off..... on and off. till i got in and put the key forward, then they stay on but start to flicker. I guess because the power going to the lights isnt the same as with the light switch on the ON position

Because on mine (which doesn't have remote start) I went through the DIC and disabled the feature with the headlights coming on when you unlock with the remote keyless entry. So it might be linked to the RKE since that's what you're using to remotely start the truck.

Are you running a relay? if not I'd strongly suggest one, as that will eliminate the flickering. And are you starting it up outside where it's light?

no harness, they dont flicker when the light switch is on the on position. only when its on "DRL" Ive read that the amount of power going to the lights isnt the same on both positions

Sorry, DIC= Driver Information Center, it's the screen next to the 4 buttons you can push for tire pressure info, trip computer, etc. If you look in the manual, it breaks down all the menus you can enter and what kinds of things you can change. On mine I didn't want the headlights coming on at night whenever I unlocked with the fob, so I went in and disabled that feature.

RKE=Remote keyless entry, the fob basically.

You're right, under normal DRL operation the voltage is cut to the lights down to about 5-6V, which really starves the ballasts. Thats why it's best to take out the fuses, so the truck won't go into DRL mode. But the photocell in the dash controls the DRL low voltage/night time high voltage switch, so if you're starting your truck in the morning in the garage, there probably isn't enough light to keep them off.

When I pulled the fuses, it was about 6 in the evening, and I didn't think it was that dark but the headlights still came one, thought I did it wrong until the next day when I drove around in the sun.
