How strong is the 6L80?
Do you believe a 2WD 6L80 can survive putting down ~500hp to the wheels without blowing its guts?
Any of you guys putting down big numbers behind this tranny please chime in!
Thanks

They are probably somewhere in between the 4l60e and 4l80e in terms of strength. JamesB made a detailed post a couple years ago comparing the 6l80e to the 4l80e and according to him the 6l80e has intrinsic deficiencies in terms of power handling compared to the 80e.

What is circle D doing to these trannies?
The reason Im asking is because im planning on swapping in the 6.2 then s/c it soon after into my nnbs rcsb. I did plan on doing it this spring break but the only thing holding me back is the 6L80. Ive been waiting and searching to find a 6L90 but w/o luck.
Its going to be my DD so I want to know it wont suddenly go out on me. Not really looking for the truck to be beast or a 1/4 mile monster, just want the truck to be able to defend itself against a couple of unsuspecting srt8s an lightnings.
