Default It's going to be interesting to compare mileage

The 6.2 I ordered is supposed to be built this week. I don't know the exact date yet, but I'm pretty sure the dealer is getting tired of my emails.

But in my geek-ness I just compiled all the records for the '99 ecsb 4x4 5.3 3.73 4L80 that I've been driving since '05. Mods are nothing more interesting than a K&N and a Flowmaster. Most of my miles are around town, which here in the Portland OR area includes a fair amount of short freeway hops. I do some towing, but my boat and all the gear barely amounts to a ton. Overall, driving this truck almost 62,000 miles, I averaged 14.973 mpg. It's going to be real interesting to see how the '11 ecsb 4x4 6.2 3.73 6L80 compares to that.

If it's too close, I'll just have to get a bigger boat ....

Cool, keep us updated on the comparison.

And for the record I hope it gets better gas mileage so you can be influenced to buy a bigger boat!

Oh hell yes! I followed your "Need Some Advice" thread from the git-go. Your experience and all the comments were extremely helpful in making up my mind.

Oops, that was a brain fart - I should have said 4L60.

I had a 99, same specs as you, and I usually got about 16mpg mixed. My 6.0, 4L70 VMax probably averages 15. I'm guessing your new truck will probably be similar. The biggest difference is how you drive it. It really starts falling off once you go over 65, or do a lot of city cruising. But once my gauge pod comes in, I'm installing my WB and tuning for 91 octane, so here's to hoping it goes up!

That's for sure - I experimented one time on a 150 mile flat freeway run on a calm day. One way I set the cruise for 73 (prevailing traffic speed on this stretch) and got 18.1 mpg. On the way back, same day, I set the cruise for 62 and got 20.2 mpg.
