Yeah, some dealers just don't know their stuff well enough. I find it irritating. I go there to order a truck and the only way they believe I know what I am talking about is because I tell them I did what I want on the Chevrolet site. Fortunately, my truck was actually discovered on a lot while I was internet searching for an NHT, and I drove 2-3 hours each way (twice) to go buy the truck I wanted without dealing with the local idiots.

When I first went to the dealerships to buy a 2011 truck, I was on the fence between a Colorado Z71 4x4 5.3 and a 4x4 Silverado. They didn't even know you could get a Colorado Z71!

Yeah I had to talk to my dealership at length to get what I wanted, after telling me it wasn't possible to order a truck the way I wanted it and that there were none made that way, they located 6 or 7 of them.

My truck is a 2011 ECSB 2WD 6.2 6L80 with 14 bolt rear end 4 wheel disc and 3.42s. No NHT or Z71 package.

... and while we're ragging on dealers, the first one I went to tried really hard to convince me that the new 5.3 was so much better than my '99 5.3 that I wouldn't need a 6.2 (which they didn't have on the lot). So they let me drive a 5.3 to convince me and I really didn't think it was all that much better than mine - until I checked the specs on that truck I had just driven and discovered it had the 3.08 gears. Well, hell, if they knew what they were doing they would at least have let me drive a 5.3 with the 3.42 gears! I went somewhere else and drove one of those and it really would kick my 99's *** ... but then I drove a 6.2 and it was really a beast, so what the hell.

Probably "strike three" at that first dealer was the salesman who kept telling me how great his Ford pickup was compared to Chevy. I mean ... seriously?

Is there a sport handling package that you got? Just trying to get an idea on the ways to get the rear disc

So the way i understand it and see it is all the 6.2's regradless of the package get Rear disc, this means that the Texas Edition that has the 6.2L option does not have the 14bolt rear, just the standard 8.5 10bolt rear with disc brakes.

The only 1/2 ton trucks with the 14 bolt are the Z71's and the Max trailering package 6.2L's

Well, I'm really not sure how they decide and set all the trucks up.

Mine has the 14 bolt rear with disc brakes, but I think all 6.2 trucks come with the 14 bolt disc brake rear ends.

I haven't seen a 6.2L truck with out the 14 bolt yet.

I'm beginning to realize that they must change these "minor details" every time some part or sub-assembly is available/unavailable or cheaper/not-cheaper. No wonder you need to bring in your VIN to order the right head gasket or ashtray. What's available today may not be around tomorrow.

FWIW

Hmm so the Max Trailering package rearend is the same rearend you have in your truck ? The 9.5' 14bolt ? I just don't see why they would specify that only on the Max Trailering package trucks and not the Texas edition 6.2l's.
