K&N vs volant....In my situation?
I was just wondering about getting volant bc it does have ram air for my truck and i dont like how k&n looks to get hot. I have K&N on the truck right now but i don't know if i should sell it or not i am really leaning closer to get rid of it for the volant and scoop, and yeah i know the scoop will take in bugs and water while traveling i would eithier take it off or stick a rag down low and a rag up high. Any input on what you guys think i should do bc i love my K&N but it seems hot after i run the truck if i get off to touch it its really hot i even sealed it better and put the regular stock box on and cut hole. i just like the ram air idea for when i am traveling in good weather. If i do this i would want to do it before i did my transmission. Its just im confused Please help i have read thousand of places and the only other thing is vara-ram even sounds cheap

IHMO, stock box with a K&N panel filter, build your own tubing between the airbox and throttle body. Modify the stock airbox for added cold-air.
Check ak2007R6 build thread in the projects gallery, see if he ever updated that thread with his airbox mods. He takes pictures of everything!
FWIW, I'm running a modified stock airbox with a K&N panel filter as well, in the 11's.

LOL I do take pictures of everything. I did finish up the install with the new parts before coming back up to work yesterday (well almost, still need to pain the tube). Will get the pics off my camera tonight and update my thread.
+1 to just a better filter and building your own tube. No sense in spending tons of money when a trip to home depot will yield the same results for a fraction of the cost
