well i was just going to purchase the xr1 style muffler with a few turn downs and call it a day. what do you think?

i just dont really like the rear exit kits on trucks anymore. dumped is a bit clean imo.

I've got an XR-1 with 3 inch pipe coming out right infront of the rear wheel, sounds AWSOME but is not really all that loud. There is no real noticeable drone but the 4cyl mode does sound not so great, You will only notice it on the highway tho and its not a ricy sound just sounds like a very low rpm. Ill try and get some pics and a vid of it.

I have the Flowmaster dumped(no DOD On 99) It sounds ok, I agree with previous post about the 2000-2500 sound. Friend of mine has same setup with a Magnaflow and it sounds better. Not really helping the original poster ? In response to his, you can't go wrong with Borla, never heard a Cat-back from them the didn't sound good and since you mentioned the dynatech headers as your only choice the money is not of concern to you, just sound. If the GMPP is in fact Borla then go with the lower cost of the 2! I know Gm wouldn't put there stamp on untested, unproven parts for a Gm add on.

like I said not the best sound clip but noone to hold the camera plus its winter makes getting a good one difficult. This is with the passenger window down.

ssounds pretty decent to me. its pretty throaty sounding correct? im guessing the xr1 is just a single inlet/outlet? will the 3in/3out work on my stock truck? thanks for the pics and vid.

I've had a borla xr-1, hooker aerochamber, flowtech warlock bypass and now magnaflow. By far the best overall performer is the magnaflow. 3" in/ 2-2.5" outlet. It's dumped before the axle. sounds awesome at WOT and very tame at cruise, almost quite, lol. I've had all these mufflers with different tail pipe lengths and muffler locations. this is what i've learned. The closer the muffler is to the y-pipe flange, the deeper the sound. The further away the muffler is from the y-pipe flange the raspier the sound and the longer the pipe is after the muffler the raspier it gets as well. my favorite is the borla xr-1 3" from the flange and about 3'-0" of pipe after it, cut of straight. very nasty and deep, but very loud. My opinion, after all the exhaust i've done, is get the corsa sport system. It's the best i've heard. loud is nice, but gets old quick.
I will be getting a corsa sport as my next system. This is just my $2000 woth of muffler experience, given to you for free. I have a few sound clips in the multimedia section for reference. I could have purchased a few corsa sports with all the money I've wasted, lol, but it was fun
