I don't see the reasoning to change gears for a single trip. Gear swap can cost 500-1000 depending on if you swap out the g80 and who does the install....
If you are really going to go to the 6.0 in the future, just keep the 3.23s...

A 6.0 with 3.23 gears will stomp all over a 4.8 with any and all bolt-ons and gears in all regards (towing, performance, cruising).
And it's not like gear swaps are cheap either. I think mine cost around $900 total, and that's including the Eaton limited slip, because who in their right mind would go into the rear end without adding a reliable limited slip
I loved my bone stock ECSB, which was formerly a 4.8, simply changed out for an LQ9. It was a nice DD that got great gas mileage. The LQ9 would knock down 23 mpg highway, whereas the 4.8 could only muster 22 mpg. Go adding gears to a 4.8, and I'd be surprised to see it come close to those mileage numbers.
