yup!this trek is hilly, so the 3:73s it is.

my 3.73 are a good balence of both mpg and power . i run a 31 inch tire . i will be doing 4.10 in the future for more towing power .

I don't see the reasoning to change gears for a single trip. Gear swap can cost 500-1000 depending on if you swap out the g80 and who does the install....

If you are really going to go to the 6.0 in the future, just keep the 3.23s...

You need a bigger motor. There's no gear alive that will help that weak N/A 4.8 go up a grade on the highway. Stick with the 3.23s and enjoy your good highway gas mileage.

No i'm not gearing just for my trip i also want them for around town and performance.the swap is a gunna be awhile yet,so the performance side is slow comming for now.

I'll have to respectfully disagree, David.

A 6.0 with 3.23 gears will stomp all over a 4.8 with any and all bolt-ons and gears in all regards (towing, performance, cruising).

And it's not like gear swaps are cheap either. I think mine cost around $900 total, and that's including the Eaton limited slip, because who in their right mind would go into the rear end without adding a reliable limited slip

I loved my bone stock ECSB, which was formerly a 4.8, simply changed out for an LQ9. It was a nice DD that got great gas mileage. The LQ9 would knock down 23 mpg highway, whereas the 4.8 could only muster 22 mpg. Go adding gears to a 4.8, and I'd be surprised to see it come close to those mileage numbers.
