Lowering a 4x4 nnbs and warranty questions.
I'm debating buying a new truck and will want to lower it, probably a 4/6 or 4/7 drop, how are you guys doing it on a 4x4? Also I was wondering just what can you do and keep the warranty? I'm thinking possibly buying an extra computer and having it tuned but I don't know the best route to go.

No need to worry about warranty. IMHO the lowest you can go and still keep the 4wd reliably operable is 3/5 Mine is a crew cab and I had to make spacers to lift the transmission off the crossmember and then space the trans off of the trans mount and put 6 degree pinion shims in order to get enough angle on the driveshaft to keep the driveline from self destructing and the 4wd operable.
I used mcg compenents with spindles and coil relocators in the front/ flip kit and rear hangers with 3" lift shackles and rear shock relocators.
I used the OE front shocks and MCG rear shocks. I love the ride,looks and handling.
But being a mechanic and seeing where it put everything after the drop IMHO 3/5 is the maximum of safe and keeping it easily alignable and not wearing tires trashing u joints or a transfer case from vibration. The front CV's are pretty close to my max of what I'm comfortable with.

How the hell did you get the front and rear driveshaft angle right on that thing. I had holy hell on mine at only 3/5. My front still has a tad bit of vibration at 70 in auto but not too bad. Yours has got to be at least be the same length or shorter than mine. Unless the 6 speed adds length to mine I haven't ever measured 4l60 vs 6 speed for length.
Do share the details I'm in for going lower on mine but the driveshafts front and rear are my only limiting factor.

The front differential is mounted to the frame, and doesn't move, so the front driveshaft angle never changes with a drop kit. The front CV angles are okay on this truck, and there is not any vibration at any speed. The front drop is McG's 2" springs, plus 2" knuckles.
For the rear, it's a flip kit. We had to install a 4 degree shim to get the driveline angle set up. Without the shim, there was a noticable launch shudder. After installing the shims, the launch shudder is gone, and there's no vibration at any speed.
