Default LS6 cam cheap alternative choice for 4.8 w turbo?

Ok, so the building begins, i am finally going to bite the bullet and get a cam, i am seeing several 4.8L silverados running good HP numbers with an LS6 cam, and they are cheap enough. Is this a good cam for the price or should i be looking more for something like a TR220 or the like..

I dont want to have to run anything but maybe a TB stall in the truck.. I want a slightly notable idle difference, currently have 3" pipe with a 26" magnaflow dumped under bed. So i will be keeping this with the turbo as well..

I plan to attempt to build, and when i fail i plan to buy a KB racing kit..

Keep this in mind and let the suggestions fly!!!

Will these all have a notable idle?

I also know that the Turbo will deaden the idle characteristics.. HMMM

if you are going turbo, the idle isnt what you should worry about. if you want a truck thats N/A then yeah go bigger, the thing is if you are going to mod for the future of the "Turbo" then id put a cam that will do way better with a Turbo added to it vs a N/A cam that will have to be changed out to get a cam back in there to go with a Turbo. i wouldnt get so caught up on the "idle" of the cam if you plan a FI later on that needs less LSA to actually react better with a FI.

also the "Turbo" doesnt deaden any idle, the cam, engine rpm determines the "idle" of the truck.... keep in mine this is all just my .02

they have PLENTY of guys running a LS6 cam behind a 70mm/76mm turbo and putting down 500rwhp.

so the ls6 is the basic cam some guys use, but what about the other corvette cams like the z06 ones or the new ls9 motor? those are probably to big for a 4.8/5.3 turbo motor or could they be used?

The LS9 cam is an interesting thought..

211/230 .562/.558 LSA 122.5 LSA

Seems a bit much, what does everyone else think of this cam?

will an LS6 cam even bolt into my truck, or will i need one from an LS3 or something? My truck will have the newer cam sensor correct?

LS3 cam specs

204/211 .551/.525 117

So many choices.. My head is going to explode.. Is there a reason that all these Vette cams have such a high LSA??

Is there some sort of cam GURU that i can contact or that can chime in with the part number and where to get it..

Ima go nuts trying to think of this.

the "higher" the LSA the more tame the idle will be. the LS9 cam is for L92 heads which is why there is a big split.

you can do wonders with a "spec'd boost cam" the thing is you cant do a "FI" cam an worry about the "idle" the turbo loves the higher LSA (116-120) its all in how you look at it and what you want. there are plenty of guys running strong numbers with the LS6 cam.

if it was me id run a EPS boost cam and turn the boost to 10psi and let it rip. id also run ARP head studs with a thicker head gasket.

do as much research as possible then decide.
