Default LS6 RCSB Swap

I was able to score a used LS6 short block and heads for cheap. Is it worth the time and money to transplant this engine into my truck? If so what parts do I need to make it work? Will 5.3 injectors work on the 5.7? Will I need a LS6 intake? Of course I will need a tune luckily I am in Sugar Land and Wheatly is just up 99. Suggestions?

ls6 is 24X reluctor so its not gonna work on the new harness your car have

you can sell it and buy ls2 ,ls3, ly6 , l76, l92 any of these engines should work with new trucks without any problems

If it is a NBS truck it is a direct swap. Pull the 5.3 out put the 5.7 in and swap the intake and all the accessories over. You may need bigger injectors. If it is a NNBS it is a little more involved, but can still be done.

NBS...NNBS??? What does this mean? My silverado is a 2008 5.3 "J" motor. If it won't swap over easily, I'll make someone a great deal on it.

you truck being an 08 is what we call "NNBS" which is the "new new body style"... to most of us. However if its a classic I believe you are still ok.. (the "NBS" to us... 99-07 classic despite the front end changed in 03 )

I'll trade this motor for a tune, torque converter, and an exhaust if someone wants it.

look up lingenfelter, he has a 58x-24x reluctor wheel adapter. Besides that and the cam sensons, what else is there to swap out? Can someone confirm the reluctor wheel info for me?

From the looks of the lingenfelter product, it updates the the older 24 to the newer 58 ring. Correct? I am trying to retrofit a 24 5.7 motor to a 58 PCM. What are the issues with putting the 58 on the 5.7 crank and then putting it in my truck?

you have to have it pressed off anf press on a 58 tooth if im correct. just pick up an LS3 or sell it and pick up a L76 for a couple grand and just swap away then sell your motor.
