Default LT header question.

Can somebody give me a legitimate increase I can see with the addition of LTs on a Gen IV 5.3? I know, it has been hashed before, and I've used the search button. But the answers are all over the place. I'm just debating on whether it will be worth it for a stock engine with a CAI, tune, and stall only. Money's tighter nowadays, but if it is a noticeable increase I would do it. I added headers to numerous other vehicles, but heard LS engine really respond well to improved exhaust flow. This isn't so much a MPG question, but would I see a difference in E.T.? Right now I'm at 14.6

Longtubes will net you about a 15-25 horsepower gain. Now if you were to add a cam they would respond even more, possibly 25-35 horsepower gain not including the hp gain youd get out of the cam. As for a difference in your E.T. i couldnt tell you specifics but yes you will drop your time. Now is your tune a handheld or custom by an actual tuner? An actual tuner like, Nelson, Blackbear and Wheatley will get everything out of they longtubes that you can get with your setup. So if you have a handheld, sell it put on the longtubes and call up one of the tuners on the side and theyll really help you out.

Thanks for the response. I have a Nelson tune now. I may just get them and have Nelson re-tune for them.

So what longtubes are you going with and why? I'm going to pull the trigger on some by Monday no matter what the wife said. I want the very best, which one is it, ARH or Kooks???
Please, I'm on the fence with this one.

you cant go wrong with Kooks or ARH. just decide which one you want and buy em. i personally wouldnt spend 1300-1500 on LTs/Y pipe. if i had it to do over again, id buy Texas Speed 1 7/8" LTs if going with a H/C/I setup and you run over 6500rpm an dont mind a 3400+ converter. for the simple man, id get a set of Pacesetter LTs/OR-y an save the other 1,000 for something else useful like a cam, gears, or a converter if you dont have it. just my .02

buy pacesetter LTs for cheaper. obx is 2.5" exhaust vs the 3" that your truck already has. dont choke it down anymore than you have to imo, also just reuse your stock cats they flow just fine.
