Default Mod 5.3 or 6.2?

My brother is selling me the 6.2 off his 2008 escalade it has 54.xxx miles on it..he wants $3200 for it so its a good price...my question is if im better off modding my 5.3 with a cam, stall, and magnacharger or should i buy the 6.2 add a CAI, long tubes and call it a day? Its for my 2008 yukon and its my daily driver..

supercharger makes more hp than n/a motor any day.

pick a goal then shoot for it. that supercharger would be the way to go as far as instant torque

You'll need a power adder of some type to get to 500 rwhp, even with the 6.2. Either engine will get you there. Probably would be cheaper and easier to use your 5.3, IMHO.

Just incase you have not been looking around, a ton of guys are going 10's with 4.8's. Mod the 5.3, trans, rear. Going to have to do that regardless of engines if you plan to step up to that power. I would slap a cam in the 5.3, some sort of forced induction.

Cam, valve springs, pushrods, headers, and converter. All geared towards working with your Maggie (or whatever you decide to go with). If you have some coin left over, get a gauge package. Wideband is probably the most important gauge you should look into.

couldnt have said it any better

get a good wideband imho, dont get a cheap one.

if i was to be just starting off, and i know im going FI i would start just like this.

4L80e swap
Built driveshaft
Fuel system upgrades required for the Maggie to run very safe and never run out of fuel
if i had any money left over id look into a tru-trac and gears depending your current gears
cam, valve springs, push rods, dod delte if equipped with it.
Crank pinning kit being it'd be supercharged
a good set of headers as in the Kooks or ARHs *not picking sides, just throwing names out*

im sure the cash will be ran out by then so only thing left is to buy the supercharger. id also do the 100mm idler upgrades (i think thats the size) for future boost increase

These guys hit the nail on the head. Do all the mods you are thinking about, but with boost in mind. Boost friendly cam and converter with all the appropriate supporting mods the guys before me mentioned
