Default Modding with a purpose... need advice.

I've got a 2012 Silverado 5.3 extended cab. My friend has a 6.7 powerstroke bone stock. Well as we all know I've got nothing for it. What mods exactly would I need to be able to at least be even with the powerstroke? Right now (me with an extra passenger) I get him on the punch and he puts about 1 1/2 trucks on me from a slow roll in 1st to about. Would a intake, tune, exhaust get me close?

Just a tune should get you close....how much money do you want to spend?

Maybe the 1500 range. I don't want to sink alot in my truck, I'd just like to make it a little quicker. I've got 2 Fbodys that I work on mainly. What tuner would you recommend? And how are these local knock off catbacks these exhaust shops sell? Junk?

Not sure if the 5.3s are DOD or not...but get a cam, torque converter, and tune and you will be good to go.

Yea your definately right about the money pits. Hes got a mustang I outrun with my cars and the truck he can kind of hold over my head. Its not really a big deal to me about whether I can run with it or not but if it wouldn't take many mods to get me there I figure I could do a little to the truck.

Dont waste your money on a cat back. Buy a 3" in and 3" out muffler and have it installed.

I think a airaid tube, custom tune, and a exhaust will easily get you there.

I agree with the tune and ar tube...might just get a muffler instead of the cat back. You know that once your ps buddy is tuned it will cost you alot to run with him so maybe don't even bother messing with your truck and concentrate on your f body cars.
