more power 6.2 swap
im just curious what will need to be changed to swap a 6.2 into my 2008 1500 which currently has a 5.3..
1. any wire harness modifications
2. will the computer support it when its retuned
3. will it kill the 4l65e tranny
4. will my 5.3 headers and exhaust work on the 6.2
5. will the flex plate work with by 4l65e converter
anyone who has done this swap let me know what needs to be done.. if i do it im going to put a cam in it first and get rid of the vvt also

1. Yes, considerable rework if you want to retain VVT. Either that or swap to a normal cam and then you can re-use your stock harness, ECM and senors
2. No if you want to retain VVT, Yes if you swap to a normal cam
3. Keep the shift points lower than 6400 RPM and you might be okay with it
4. Yes, but those 6.2's flow some air so some upgrades especially longube headers are worthwhile. Not much point putting all the work into an engine swap without doing supporting mods imo
5. Use your 5.3L flex plate it bolts right up

yes i will do away with all the vvt. it will have a diff cam in it.
so to clear the water a bit.. if i do the cam swap the stock harness will work 100% crank sensors and injectors everything will plug right in???
and the shift points i plan on being around 6k

You'll want to use the harness and sensors off your 5.3L to make life as easy as possible. Without looking at the engines side by side I cant say plug and play but there will be a lot of similar stuff so use your noggin and if you hit a road block post up with pics and it'll get sorted.
07+ 6.2 but if you get one that has AFM which iirc began in 09+ on some models you'll need to pull the heads and swap out 8 lifters as well.
