definatly post up the results on this, Pat G spec'ed my VVT cam as well. Mine needs a dyno tune as well, but the forced induction keeps calling my name so the VVT might get pulled for a traditional boost friendly cam soon.

What's the specs on yours shaw? I'm torn between a more expensive 6.0 swap or sticking a cam in my 5.3.

I keep thinking something around 214 on the intake side with a bunch of advance ground in would be perfect. Retarding the cam with vvt would help top end horsepower and the small intake duration would be good for low end torque. Maybe XE lobes so I could use the blue ls6 springs.

222/234 .596/601 114+5 LSA. Mine is a 6.2l however and its got a 3200 stall. Is the VVT 5.3L a direct swap? I guess i thought 5.3l/6.0l did not have VVT so it seems it would be an involved process to go VVT with tuning and mainly the acuator on the cam, how is the solenoid (on front cover) wired in?

U just rplace the cam valve bolt its tty and the front cover (vvt) will have the actuator built in it u dont even have to touch it

The worst part for me was lining up the dots on the gears but I did it in the engine compartment

So your 5.3l was VVT and DOD stock? I guess i thought they were just DOD until the new 2014 models. Good to know they had VVT on them as well. I agree the dot to dot sucks!

So my VVT cam would possibly work in a VVT 5.3l or 6.0l if the core is the same? Interesting...

What year did they add VVT to the 5.3l around 2011? As stated if you cam I would DOD delete. Too many have had DOD lifters let go!
