Cold mornings looks to be at 50-60
Warm it hovers around 40. You hear it the most hen you put your head right under the truck. I'm gonna do a oil change here shortly, ill have a oil smae sent off to see if there's any traces of metal in it

Yeh I did the same after an oil change. The oil I drained out looked like a bass boat paint job the metal flakes were so big. Oil samples work best if you have comparative data from an older oil sample. Oil is always going to have various metal debris traces from normal wear. If the gauge is close thats good OP. Considering I've seen some in the 10 to 15 range.

Original post: 2011 Silverado engine knocking @ 3K. Check out the thread. The short version.
Cam and lifter went south at 3K miles. They replaced the cam and all the lifters. The engine lasted only a couple thousand mile and gave up, no oil pressure. They replaced the engine, that one made it couple thousand mile and took a **** ! They were going to put anther new engine in but I was done with the truck at that point and was trying to pursue a buy back through GM but they would not have it. Tried the Texas lemmon law but believe it or not it did not qualify ! So the dealership worked a deal where I traded it in for a 2011 6.2 NHT. But it did cost me 1500.00 and the increase in the price of the 6.2. Am happy with the 6.2.
