New truck some qiuck ?'s 11' 6.2L
Ok just picked the truck up yesterday and trying to figure out a few things with it. Coming form a diesel for the past 4 years I have a lot to learn about these new gas trucks. First Looking for intakes I noticed there's not a lot listed for the 6.2 but there are for the other engines. I was thinking that the are interchangeable with one another? Has there been any dyno graph comparison tests between different intakes? Is there any favorite CAI among the members here?
Next looking at getting a stock replacement muffler for it. Is there any good after market mufflers with close to the same length as the stock one? Not to loud just more free flowing. I noticed the system is welded so that should be fun. Maybe its just easier to go total after market system.
And finally tuning , how long should I let the truck break in before getting started with the efi live tuning? Is there a huge difference from the stock tunes over dyno tuning it. I get lucky there a dyno 5 mins away from my house that tunes with the efi live, but if there not that much to gain from it I won't do it. I was thinking I would get the autoCal from blackbear.

Im not familiar with the intakes of those trucks bc i have a trailblazer but im sure someone will chime in.
Your asking a muffler question is like asking the best flavor ice cream. Its all in sound preference. I would say 80% of the members on here use magnaflow. I love mine and as for size you will probably just have to measure for yourself to get an accurate number.
I did a mail order tune when I was just getting started modding and it suited me fine for time being. The more you do obviously the more you need to compensate for. So id say it would suit you for time being.

As far as mufflers, like said its like ice cream everyone has their favorite flavor. Most will suggest a Corsa Catback. I agree they sound great, but I can't deal with the pricetag. A replacement muffler doesn't need to be the same size, if you get one shorter, just add some pipe to it. I love my Magnaflow Race Series Muffler by the way.
Intakes, I know for the 2009 or 2010 models, they molded the mass airflow sensor into the stock airbox. There are a few companies offering full kits I believe. IMO, I would just order an AirAid Modular Intake tube to replace the stock tube with all its baffles, and a dry flow filter to go into the stock box. You can also mod the stock box with a dremel tool to flow better.
I had my truck tuned less than a week after buying it. Mines only a 4.8 liter, but it made a huge difference. I'm sure there is power to be made with a tune on the 6.2, not diesel kinda power, but......

are you talking about redline motorsports? ive been wondering myself if i should go there and get it dyno tuned after i get my gears in.
pretty much because of the molded MAF, all you can do is a drop in filter. the exhaust on your truck is like a dual mode like the corvettes, but for something with decent sound, look into magnaflow. then there leaves a cam and headers, etc.

I forgot about redline. I was talking about northeast speed shop on rt. 30 in Amsterdam. They guy that owns it was a GM mechanic for years and know his stuff. So i guess there a few options around here.

Just looked at the stock intake looks like the maf is removable with two screws. But I don't know what the two tubes are that come off the the intake pipe and go over the top of the engine.

those tubes are there to make the incoming air quiet. When i purchased my truck new the first thing i did was buy a 4" rubber elbow and a 13" piece of stainless tubing and make an intake tube.. Sounds like it will suck the hood into the engine when you put your foot down. then modified the stock box with a hole saw and put in a K&N and good to go. Got a TB spacer too before i realized they dont help, you would swear my truck is turbo'd with the tube and spacer, the spacer makes the air whistle when going into the manifold.
