Default NNBS 5.3 guys chime in!

Ok so here is the story. Sold my 99 ss camaro about a year ago to get me a more reliable and convenient vehicle. Bought my first truck... an 08 5.3 ecsb 4x4 silverado in my signature. Put some nice wheels and HIDs and thought that would be the bulk of my mods but now I'm feeling the itch. The truck is still my dd so I have been contemplating my route. I am on a somewhat tight budget...and my question is you guys with cammed 5.3s with bolt ons, what kind of numbers are you pushing out? The other route is of course FI. I've looked into the STS kits quite a bit but I just dont know the best way to go to get some decent power but still be reliable and not completely destroy my drivetrain and have to spend even more $$$ on a built transmission. The truck will see some trips to the track and of course whatever I pull up next to on the street, but mainly will just be driven lightly with occasional towing. Any help is greatly appreciated guys. I love this style truck and i'm just looking to get the most out of it.

Im not cammed but with headers, cold air, tune and 60shot I made 355/386 on the dyno jet. Runs a 13.9@99 at the track before the stall. Its been alot of fun and havent had a single problem out of it. Im thinking about FI tho. Thatd be a ton of fun! Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

Thanks for the info. N/A does seem to be the easier and cheaper route, but FI seems like it would be so much fun with a lot more power. Everyone around has the same damn Cummins with a chip and i'm just ready to pull up next to one and keep up with it or outrun it with my gasser.

First is your truck flex fuel?
Second make sure on what kind of FI you want?
Ask more questions on what you want cuz if you want all motor then you can probably go with headers with off road y pipe. The best thing is to just keep asking questions.

Zo6 cam, or LS2 cam *about the same specs, just the LS2 comes in a single bolt or 3 bolt cam*
KB racing 70mm front mount/intercooled
4L80e swap *shift kit installed*
if you are wanting to stay with the trans you have then go with a Performabuilt LVL 3 and hope it holds up
Tune

first off you have DOD so you'd need the full DOD delete kit (if you decide on swapping cams)
the turbo kit is all on what you want so id say 3,500-4k
80e can be had for about 1k
a dyno tune *KEY POINT IN ANY BUILD* 550-800 depending your tuner. id go to the BEST if im going to spend my pay check on just this item

6-7500 depending on what you buy, find used but in great shape....

Yea the truck is flex fuel. I plan on running e85 regardless of which route I take.
