Default NNBS DIC Install write up

This is a common mod with the 07+ NNBS trucks but I havnt really seen a thread on here so I thought I'd put one together while installing mine.

Here is what I started with. I had very limited things I could watch without the DIC while driving such as mileage/trip meter/trans temp and I had to use the reset on the trip meter to scroll through them.

After prying on the panel I popped it off allowing me to get access to the wiring harness for the lights. With the help of a small pocket knife I unclipped the harness to remove the light switch to install into the new dash panel. The DIC harness is the small one above the light switch.

When you pull the panel off you'll find the plug for the DIC buttons is placed onto a piece of plastic (circled in red)to keep it secure while not in use. Simply just pull in off and plug into the DIC buttons.

Reinstall the light switch/panel and here is the finished product.

This mod gives you access to fuel mileage, range, gallons used, V8/V4 mode notification, tire pressures, tire sensor learning, key fob learning, chime volume, entry and exit lighting schemes, lock and unlock schemes (including automatic lock/unlock), unit and language choices, engine hours etc...

Its really handy and this is a no brainer for someone that doesnt have it and is a great mod for around $100 bucks. I dont know why I waited this long to do it! I have already found it very handy with the lighting schemes. Seeing I have HIDs and you dont want them flashing on and off, I turned off the lights when unlocking/remote starting to help them from wearing out any sooner.

Here is a link of the part numbers. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...umber=19159438

Enjoy.

Great write up, it's a simple mod to do, but I'm sure it'll help some guys out. It's always some hesitation to mess with a new truck

Default 2010 Silverado and my $17 DIC

Thank you for the documentation and the pictures. I was able to see the bracket was on the blank panel so I removed mine and verified the bracket was there!
I ordered the switch and cut out the rectangular hole.
Great features!
I made a template from a piece of wood the same size as the switch. I lined up the switch in the rear holder and used an Exacto knife to mark the cut out. Masking taped the front, drilled the corners and slowly cut it out from behind the panel with the template glued in place. Then I slowly filed to fit. :nunchuk1:

When I did mine it had already come with the switch in the panel. I just swapped the panels and was all done. I had gotten mine off of Ebay. Nice job tho, came out well.
