Oh God NO....Not an oil thread....These never go good.

Big inhale............Here goes

I don't think RP is certified for use in the 6.2L...or anything newer than 06, at least it wasn't when I used it in my 03 last year.

Can't really go wrong with M1
Amsoil I believe is certified too.

Certification though only goes as far as if you have warranty left...after that use what you want.

I've always used mobil 1 but we use royal purple in the race car and figured I would get some input on it. I most likely with stick with mobil 1 due to I never had a problem with it...... I can just get royal purple cheaper

Maybe it is OK now...I loved RP in my truck.
Ask GM or e-mail RP to find out if its OK to use in new GM's now.

GM isn't requiring oil tests before approving warranty engine work so it doesn't really matter. Both brands are of good quality and it will be far more important that you change it on a regular schedule then which one you choose. Do not follow the oil life monitor.

What is wrong with the oil life monitor?

Amsoil i believe is the best of the best. And you certainly pay dearly for it.
I personally use Valvoline full Synthetic. It's usually personal preference, Most oil has passed federal standards. Just make sure you buy a great oil filter. And a magnetic drain plug never hurt either.

Funny...The OLM goes off exactly at what M1 says they're OCI should be...

And the oil comes out a nice golden color, not new looking, not burnt looking. I think the OLM is perfect if your running synthetic oil. I wouldn't follow it for dino oil though.

I wouldn't use anything but dino oil in a stock truck personally...no need to pay the extra for synthetic if you don't need it...I'm not keeping my truck long enough to ever see the benefits anyway.

I'm going to drive mine into the ground!! Get my moneys worth so i can buy a hover car or whatever is out then!

Plus my company pays for gas/oil changes so i figured why not?

I just did my first oil change at 2300 and the oil was still new looking! I see 5-6k miles easily.

Isn't the oil life meter run off time, rpm's,temperature, and speed?
