Yeah its an algorithm...it has nothing to do with the actual condition of the oil.

I have heard of guys getting stupid mileage, but they baby it.

I had 33% left on mine when I changed my oil at 5K km. So I could have gotten say 7500km out of it. But I like sticking to 5K on dino oil. I dont think the extra cost of the synthetic is worth it for me. I would have to pay for 2 less oil change a year....but I would pay that in the cost of the synthetic...so its really no savings...and I will trade the truck after 5 years anyway.
