Yeah its an algorithm...it has nothing to do with the actual condition of the oil.

I have heard of guys getting stupid mileage, but they baby it.

I had 33% left on mine when I changed my oil at 5K km. So I could have gotten say 7500km out of it. But I like sticking to 5K on dino oil. I dont think the extra cost of the synthetic is worth it for me. I would have to pay for 2 less oil change a year....but I would pay that in the cost of the synthetic...so its really no savings...and I will trade the truck after 5 years anyway.

 

Thats what I've been using in my vehicles. It gets great results back from oil analysis and is really affordable. Go over to bob is the oil guy and you can read how much good reviews it gets.
