Default Opinions on drop

Hey guys! I need some opinions from those of you that have dropped your trucks before and used various kits. I have a 2008 silverado that I want to put about a 2/4 drop on. This will be my first drop kit install besides the simple 2" shackle kit I had on my 04 so im lost. I found this kit reasonably priced: McGaughys 2/4 (#34021). It consists of coils, rear hangers, flip kit and bump stops. Anyone used this? Problems? Ride quality? Mods needed (cutting)? Are spindles a must have for better ride quality? All thoughts welcome. Thanks ahead for any help.

MCG coils are bouncy...go with spindles up front or the belltech lowering struts.

I agree with JB1, if you're only wanting to go 2" in the front, I would definitely go with a spindle, skip the McGaughys coils. The rear you are right on, shackle and a hangar. You don't have to get a kit, all the parts are available separately.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I assume on these gmt 900 trucks that new shocks are not needed on a 2/4. Am I correct? Also, just as an option, would it be a good idea to take out the rear blocks to make a 2/5? I think this would level it out. Have not found anyone with a 2/5 on a regular cab for reference as of yet. Probably need to replaces shocks then though.

I think the ground force 2/4 kit comes with drop shocks for the rear but keeps factory struts up front. Mine has new shocks on rear.

On that kit it is ajustable 2/4 or 2/5. Depending on where you placed the hanger for the shackle. You will dsrill out the rivets for the stock rear hanger and replace it with the MGC ones. There are different holes on the hanger to determine the amount of drop. So you wont need the lift block if you do 5 inches anyway, so just throw those away. Also, the shackle flips around to the other side and sits lower than where it did originally.

And defninily skip the coils. Do spindles.

And 4" is supposed to use the factory shock.

This may be the kit for me. Would be easy to make it 3/5 if I wanted.

Ya I'm on the fence too , on what drop to buy 3/5 or 2/4 leaning towards a 2/4 McG kit spindle, hanger if I want to go lower I can add some springs ... I still want a slit rake ,, I hate the look with *** end sitting lower than the front ..
