6.2

If you keep your boot out of it they are no worse on fuel than the 5.3

That's kinda what I needed to hear. I know I'd be happier with the 6.2 performance but a bit worried about the MPG. Also once in a blue moon I use the 4x4 but don't really need it.

I Just picked up a 2011 GMC Sierra Texas Edition 6.2L Storm Grey metallic, I absolutely love it. Im just pissed they filled it up with 87 octane, but it still have leaps and bounds more power than my 2010 GMC 5.3L/6Speed.

So compare to your 5.3 6spd it is a lot better? I had a 5.3 4 spd and I'm not sure how much better the 6.2 is over the 5.3 when both have the 6spd. The other difference would be 6.2 2 wheel vs 5.3 4 wheel. Is the 5.3 enough for a hot rodder at heart? Thinking I'll drive a bit nicer in the 5.3 4 wheel just cause the power isn't as readily available and it might keep me out of trouble!

6.2 2wd might actually get better mpg than 5.3 4wd. Anyway, I had the choice between 4wd 6.2 NHT and 4wd 5.3 Z71. Went with the NHT 4x4 and I don't regret passing on the 5.3 in the least. However, if you think you'll ever need the 4x4 I would recommend finding a dealer with an NHT 4x4 in stock. I was able to find 3 or 4 within a few hours of me when I purchased mine a few months ago.
