Default Question about Cats on my 2010 Sierra

The Third catalytic convertor on my truck, whats its function ? Is it even a catalytic convertor or possibly a resonator ? Just curious cause my truck is a bit on the quite side and its going to be awhile before I put headers on it (Or if I even do that considering a 2011 CC 6.2L).

Been wondering about this also. I don't have a 2009 + so I haven't looked at it other than thru pictures, but it doesn't appear to have 02's forward or aft of the third cat. I was under the impression that its just a resonator and could be removed, but would like to know for sure for the future.

I cut mine off. It felt "a little" better in mid-range rpms, and also made it a tad bit louder. But not enough to make me not want to do it again.
